8th Math Homework

Please check Google classroom daily for your assignments!

Thanks,

Mrs. Heuer

Week of March 16th – 20th

Watch the virtual lesson and take careful notes/work through problems with me. After you have watched the video, please carefully complete the assignment. After you complete the assignment, you or your parent will correct your assignment with a red pen using the answer key in the back of the book. Then, carefully correct any problems you missed by showing careful and neat steps. Do this in red pen just like we do in class. GOAL – Complete understanding.

On Friday, I have provided tons of different ways to practice! You can be doing these at any time throughout the week by finding the exercises that match our daily learning!

Monday: Lesson 9.1 Graphing Quadratic Functions Watch and interact with this online video. One is Mr. R, and I made one if you want a little extra practice. Take notes and try the examples like we would in class:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCi69GGO9bI&list=PLjppX92WIsF6eWpog5bvQdKvKQ6Inh3F1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4wODSoRuuU

Complete this assignment: Lesson 9.1 Graphing Quadratic Functions pg. 549 #1-7 odd, 29-33 odd

Tuesday: Lesson 9.2 Solving Quadratic Functions by Graphing. Here are a couple of videos to get you started.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxO7xJToCpY&feature=youtu.be

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbU3zdwYrIQ&list=PLjppX92WIsF6eWpog5bvQdKvKQ6Inh3F1&index=2

Complete this assignment: pg. 558 #1, 3, 13, 23 (This is a good starting point.)

Wednesday: 9.3 Transformations of Quadratic Functions. Watch this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1oT3nOcLhg&list=PLjppX92WIsF6eWpog5bvQdKvKQ6Inh3F1&index=3

Complete this assignment: pg. 569 #1, 3, 7, 21, 51, 53

Thursday: Today we will have an assessment. I’ll add it by Wednesday. This will be a graded assessment.

Friday: Do some of these activities. You can do that at any time throughout the week!

1. Search some online learning. You can find some great resourcses.

2. Watch this Khan Academy video on graphing quadratic functions and then try the exercises:

REMOTE LEARNING:

Dear parents and students,

**Students, please share this message with your parents.**

First of all, I am going to miss seeing your smiling faces each day. Today at school felt really empty without you there.

Secondly, this next six weeks of learning is highly critical. We have made tremendous strides this year, and we want to keep moving forward. Next year depends on this. That is why we, as your teachers, are working like crazy to make sure you have access to great learning while at home. We care so much about you all and your learning.

I will communicate a lesson/assignment daily through Google classroom. It’ll be incredibly important to stay on top of our daily math lessons. I will do my best to create a tutorial for some lessons. Please watch these and interact with them. You also have your book examples and online resources to help you. I know that you all have the great study skills to work through the lessons carefully. You should plan on reading through the lesson and using the example problems to assist you.

The daily assignments will be fairly short. I want you to focus on attention to detail and accuracy. You can always do more for additional practice. Get creative and look up online games. I will add some additional resources when possible.

We will have daily homework. I will assign odd numbered problems, and you will complete them as you would a normal lesson. After you complete the assignment, you (or a parent) will correct the problems with a red pen using the answer key in back of the book. For any problems missed, you will correct the errors (showing steps) using a red pen. Our goal is complete understanding.

Each week, we will have a graded assessment based on the material we covered that week. This will show us how well you understood the material for the week and will be added to PowerSchool.

I’d love feedback (helpful/positive/concerns) since I am working through this for the first time, like you all. As a teacher and a parent of a student!

Happy learning!

Mrs. Heuer 🙂
